A Clinical Application of to e Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale


Abstract
The purpose of this article is to review the clinical application of the Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale (KWIS) that was revised from the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale.
The KWIS consists of six Verbal and five non-verbal or Performance subtests as the followings; 1) Information, 2) Comprehension, 3) Arithmetics, 4) Similarities, 5) Digit span, 6) Vocabulary subtest in verbal, and 7) Digit symbol, 8) Picture completion, 9) Block design, 10) Picture arrangement, 11) Object assembly subtest in Performance.
The KWIS, when administered individually, make available a certain amount of data regarding the tester¡¯s or patient¢¥s mode of reaction, his personality traits and psychopathology. With the foregoing considerations in mind, the author discussed or reviewed the main characteristics and various diagnostic implications by literatures and studies of the KWIS listed.
The test characteristics for the various clinical groups, such as personality disorder, anxiety or obsessive compulsive neurosis, schizophrenics, organic brain diseases and mental defectives, are briefly reviewed.
